Sue Eveland biography

Sue has been a member PACRAO and OrACRAO since 2001, and was a member of UMACRAO (Upper Midwest) for 17 years prior to 2001. She has also been a member of AACRAO since "sometime last century."

Sue served on the PACRAO Local Arrangements Committee for 2005 (Sacramento); on the both the PACRAO Program Committee and Local Arrangements Committee for 2006 (Hawaii); and served as the Local Arrangements Chair for PACRAO 2008 in Portland. She served as the Business Partner Liaison for 2009 and 2010. Sue served on the PACRAO Writers Team for two years and published one of her Writers Team articles in AACRAO's C&U journal ("The Numbers Game: Phasing in Generated ID Numbers at the University of Oregon," College and University Journal, Vol. 80, No. 4. (2005). She has presented numerous times at PACRAO, AACRAO, AACRAO Tech, SungardHE Summit, OrACRAO and UMACRAO. In 1997, Sue was awarded the UMACRAO Exemplary Service Award for her work on that Association's newsletter, web site and job board (remember, the first "real" web browser, Mosaic, came online in 1993; Netscape dates back to April 1994). She served as OrACRAO's President in 2006, and served on the conference planning team prior to her board service.

Sue believes strongly that participation in our state, regional and national organizations is important, significant and professionally critical. "Joined through membership and participation in our organizations, we become like family to each other - we share our work lives and our personal lives - our struggles and our successes. We stay close even as we move from position to position within our institutions and as we move on to new adventures at other institutions across the country."

Sue served as the Associate University Registrar at the University of Oregon from 2001 to 2007; she then served two years as Acting University Registrar before becoming University Registrar in March 2010. Prior to her time at University of Oregon, Sue worked for seventeen years at Iowa State University in several different Registrar's, Admissions, Student Services, and Enrollment Management roles.

Sue holds two degrees, both from Iowa State University: a Bachelor of Science in English/Secondary Education and a Masters of Arts in English/Business and Technical Communication. She is married to Bruce Eveland; they have one daughter, Elizabeth, who is married to and works as a senior apparel designer for Target in Minneapolis, MN. Sue's current hobbies include crocheting doilies and following Oregon Ducks sports.
