Kristin Benson Biography

Kristin Benson has been working in higher education for over 22 years. She started in the mailroom at the Art Institute of Portland, working her way up to become the registrar in 2007. She also worked at Marylhurst University as the associate registrar and Portland Community College in various roles, including registrar. Today, Kristin is the deputy university registrar at Oregon State University. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Studies from New College of Florida and earned a Master of Science degree in Educational Policy, Foundations, and Administrative Studies from Portland State University.

Kristin has presented at AACRAO conferences and has served in various leadership roles in both PACRAO and OrACRAO. Her first PACRAO was in 2006 in Honolulu, Hawai’i, where she presented for the first time at a professional conference. She has also served on program, diversity development, audit, and nominations and elections committees for PACRAO in addition to serving as secretary and president on the executive board. Kristin is passionate about transfer articulation, credit for prior learning, equity and inclusion, and FERPA, among other important aspects of our work in higher education. Kristin has set multiple state records in powerlifting (USPA) and is raising amazing kiddos with her spouse, Brad; both of these facts provide her endless bragging rights.
