James Miller biography

James MillerJames Miller has been an active member of PACRAO since his first annual meeting in Portland, Oregon in 2008. He has served a variety of board and leadership roles within OrACRAO (Vice President for Professional Development, program committees), PACRAO (2014 LAC and President 2016-2018), and AACRAO (Nominations & Elections, San Francisco Annual Meeting Co-Chair of Local Arrangements, and multiple working groups/committees). In addition to his involvement in the ‘CRAO community, he is also very active in the ACAC community.

James is currently the Director of Admissions at the University of Washington Bothell. He has worked in the admissions profession for 11 years having served in the admissions offices at Oregon State University, University of San Francisco, and University of Puget Sound. James has focused his career on building successful, highly efficient student-centered recruitment strategies and tactical approaches that help institutions meet their enrollment and revenue goals.

He has expertise in the development and management of complex marketing plans, enrollment data management and analysis, admissions technology, and process redesign. Additionally, he brings a passion for the inclusive mission of higher education and the development of recruitment and enrollment plans that open the doors as widely as possible to those who are traditionally underrepresented in higher education.

Team building, coaching, mentorship, performance management and supervision are also an area of focus for James. He has experience leading major reorganization efforts at two different institutions.

James received Bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Psychology from Oregon State University. He has served in leadership positions in state, regional and national professional organizations.
